Meet Our Elder Team

What is an elder?

"Elder" is the word the New Testament uses most often for the leaders of the church. Scripture does not picture a church run by one charismatic personality, a CEO, or a team of highly trained professionals. It gives leadership to spiritually mature people who stand together as a community and help lead everyone toward flourishing.

At The Garden, the elders' first responsibility is to be a community that practices life together, being formed by the love of Jesus, living it out, extending it, and modeling it for others.

Our staff carry out the day to day work of the church. Our elders carry the spiritual authority and strength of the church alongside them, with prayer, discernment, and a willingness to serve like Jesus did.

Meet Our Elders

The Garden grew out of two churches: The Table, a network of microchurches, and Reality Boston. They merged in May 2023, and the combined church was renamed The Garden Church in April 2025. Our elders' stories reflect both of those roots.

Maggie A.

Maggie joined The Table in 2019 and now helps lead The Port Microchurch and missional work at 29 Monadnock St. She is a daughter, sister, friend, roommate, neighbor, attorney for a political consulting firm, and serves on two non-profit boards in Boston. Maggie lives in Dorchester with roommates and her German Shepherd, Gus.

Caleb M.

Caleb joined The Table in 2020 and began playing drums at Reality Boston before the two churches merged in 2023. Since then, he has served as Worship Director and contributed to social media at The Garden. Caleb also works full-time as Content Director at EGC and is the rapper and producer behind OAK music. He lives in Dorchester with his wife, Christine.

Mandi P.

Mandi joined Reality Boston in September 2013 (one week before the church’s first birthday). Since then, she has served as a volunteer group leader, community group coach, ministry and event organizer, and prayer and formation leader. She now serves on staff, supporting the welcome and prayer ministries, teaching, and coaching group leaders. Mandi lives in Somerville with a house full of roommates.

Ashley W.

Ashley started attending Reality Boston in the fall of 2021. She has participated in several groups and is now part of the Families Microchurch. She has also served on the finance and mission committees. Ashley worked in humanitarian aid and church operations and missions until she began working in university alumni affairs and development a few years ago.

Campbell W.

Campbell came to Reality Boston in 2022 with his wife, Catherine. He plays violin with the Worship Team and is a leader in the South End community group. He previously served as a full-time staff member with Young Life in Atlanta, GA and served as a volunteer leader with Young Life for over ten years. Campbell works in tech sales in Boston and lives in the South End with Catherine and their two sons.

Josh W.

Josh has served as Lead Pastor of The Garden since spring 2023, when The Table merged with Reality Boston. He founded The Table in 2019 as an experimental network of microchurches. He has served in urban churches in Chicago, Philadelphia, Scranton, and Moscow, Russia. Josh now leads the church staff team, teaching team, and finance and mission committees. He lives in Dorchester with wife Aly and their daughter.

Nicole P.

Nicole started attending Reality Boston in late 2012, drawn by the space it created to encounter God and its focus on prayer. She now serves as a Hospitality Team leader and co-leads the JP community group. Nicole is an optometrist and clinical faculty member at the New England College of Optometry, where she is placed at a community health center in Roxbury. Nicole lives in Jamaica Plain.

Aly W.

Aly helped start The Table alongside Josh in 2019 and now serves on staff at The Garden. She has helped start and lead several microchurches and now helps lead the Families Microchurch. Aly is a trained coach and spiritual director, serves on the Worship Team, leads Kids Ministry, writes liturgies, and helps with leadership development and formation. Aly lives in Dorchester with husband Josh and their daughter.
